A short clip of my approach into Tenerife North Airport (TFN/GCXO). Descent from 7.500 feet until the feed in less than 60 seconds.
Approach into Tenerife North
I have made lots of aerial images of Tenerife. Now I made a small selection of some of my favorites and share them with you. Which one is your favorite? 🙂

Last saturday I´ve joined some friend “spotters” to spend some time next to the runway at Tenerife south airport (TFS/GCTS) and watch the planes landing and taking off.
Always impressive that they know all the special liveries, etc. you could expect to land in the next moments. Always great to have a radio scanner and the flightradar24.com app…
Well, I´ve joined the opportunity to take some different pictures, this time being on the ground, not from the air…
Here they are:

Very cozy spotting place just !a beam” tower.

Well, I just got an email, that my blog was awarded as one of the 60 best pilot blogs on the panet… Great news, isn’t it?
My blog is ranked an number 33, so still a lot of work to be done to get to the first positions!
So, if you´d like to have a look on the other blog, or to subscribe to them, they can be found here: http://blog.feedspot.com/pilot_blogs/
Safe landings!

Enjoying having a moment to write a short post being on vacations about my last flight.
Since I’ve finished my night flying training some 1,5 years ago, due to the restrictions at our local airports I was not able to fly in the night. Seems the thimgs will chamge soon, giving us more fredom, being able to return from a flight from other island even after sunset.
I flew to Gran Canaria where I made my 1 hour flight on a 1 year old Diamond DA40 with Garmin 1000 cockpit.
First time that I was flying this plane and I have to say it’s awesome. The Garmin does everything for you… Set mixture, propeller pitch angle, autopilot, run-up check and much more… I think that if I’ve learned flying on this plane, I wouldn’t be able to fly the old Pipers or Cessnas… I would simply miss the basis concepts.
Well, back to the night VFR. We took off from the Rwy 03L at Gran Canaria’s airport to the November point for some manouvers. After we took off into the dark, I actually monitored the PFD, al,ost without looking outside. Which is good, but being VFr, I should look outside as well. Arrived over November we have performed some left and right turns at 30 and 45 degrees and a slow flight.
The plane is very well controlled, like the stick performance much more than the DA20’s. The tu na have been actually executed only by looking on the PFD’s artificial horizon, because outside above the sea it was pitch dark and no visual references at all. Lost som altitude, but I’d say lss than 100 feet which I’d personally consider not too bad after so long period without flying in the night. The most important thing is to realise it and to make the necessary corrections.
After our return to the field we have made 1 touch and go and a final landing. Wouldn’t mind to own this plane; flying it is fun and it’s a good preparation for the next step- flying a big airliner.
Safe landings! 😎🛬
It’s been a while since my last post… So it’s time to write some lines and share some images with the world…
Today from our trip to La Gomera. It was a great day to fly, nice for taking images, and enjoy the views.
Here are some of the images from my flight. At the end you can find a 10 minute long video from the visual approach to La Gomera airport; which was a big fun.
Hope you´ll enjoy it as much as I did!
Safe landings 🙂

This is my “Why I fly” story, hope you’ll enjoy it! 🙂
Just a normal sunday flying. We went for a “100€ airport sandwiches” from Tenerife North airport to La Palma island. The weather was OK, bit cloudy on the departure at the origin airport, but nice, smooth during the flight and a bumpy landing.

On arrival it was a bit windy, with a it crosswind, but all good managable ;-).

We had our sandwiches, checked the meteorology (which was fine: Broken clouds at 1400 feet) and we headed back home. The weather on our route was nice, and we were flying over the clouds.
The flight takes normally 1 hour, and we wanted to proceed via the south of the Tenerife, when we got the message that the meteorology determinated at our destination, and there was rain, fog, visibility 500 meters, with which makes us imposible to land there. Our not favourite alternative was to land at Tenerife South airport. I love this airport, as I have it just 10 minutes from my house, and I learned fly there.
Not favourite, because the landing taxes there for a PA28 are 170€ and you have to pay extra handling. But safety goes first.

It was a quite different flight, we loved it. Here is a short timelapse video; just in 2:30 minutes you can get from La Palma to Tenerife South.
Safe landings!
It is February, and finaly the winter has started in Tenerife… After one week of rain, the highest mountain of Spain has been covered with snow.
Today it was a privilege to enjoy good flying weather to enjoy this beautiful scenery.
