Flying around Cologne (Köln) 🇩🇪

Time flies so fast that I almost did not get the chance (or find a moment) to write a quick post about a flight with a friend of mine in Germany a couple of weeks ago.

We meet met at Bonn-Hangelar airport (EDKB), not far away from Bonn on a very warm August day.

We flew the C172, it’s a great aircraft, and I always liked to fly it.

Definitely one of the highlights was the flight around Cologne and to see the Cathedral from above. 👇Exactly 2 years ago I’ve visited the city and stood just next to it. Now also the view from above…

Another highlight was the low pass at Köln-Bonn airport (EDDK). After the initial request, we got vectors (even though that we were flying under VFR rules) to perform the low pass not bellow 1.000 feet on the RWY 14L.

After the low pass we continued to Düsseldorf. Beautiful and green countryside, however it was a bit dry because of the heat.

On our way back to Hangelar we saw also this nice castle (Schloss Drachenburg).

Flying in Slovakia 🇸🇰

We like to fly and see the world from up there…

Got the opportunity to fly in Slovakia, country where I was born. Our trip took us from Bratislava to the High Taras and back on a shiny DA40 😀 on a warm and sunny summer morning.

Flying out from Bratislava Stefanik airport was on my bucket list, so one thing less to do…

And now just enjoy some nice views of the green countryside and the mountains.

El Volcán de Cumbre Vieja, La Palma

First time that I was able to fly over the volcano at La Palma after a long time.

Even if the volcano is not active anymore, it still looks pretty hot.

Difficult to find the words to describe this…

Something we really don’t see every day. Let’s hope it’ll sleep again for a long long time…

Arena Negras and Chinyero

View at Arenas Negras ( last eruption 1706).

Behind it, you can see volcano Chinyero. At this place, in 1909 the last registered eruption in Tenerife took place. 🌋 Now it’s a very nice place for walking in the nature 😅

Flying around Anaga and Taganana

I´ll share with you some pictures from my last flight. It was a short one, flying around the Anaga and Taganana mountains in west Tenerife.

At the end 4 touch and goes to make fun and to practice a bit with the Piper.

Hopefully I´ll be able to do some night flying in the near future and some images as well.

Why to become a private pilot

Why to become a private pilot? Or why I fly…

I enjoy the views from above, I enjoy to play with the clouds, to surf between the clouds, to feel free, to follow procedures and so on.

The list would be very long.

That’s why I’ve tried to make a compilation of my flights to share with you some of my flying adventures and tell you why I fly and whye it’s worth it to become a private pilot.

Flying Cessna 172 around Tenerife

In the past I used to fly more Piper, but in the last time I am starting to like to fly more and more the Cessna 172. Why? It’s because I like to take pictures (actually my GoPro’s are doing this job for me), and I like how the images look like. I try to use the suction mount on different places of the fuselage to ensure that I am definitely the first one in taking an image of Tenerife from this angle from an airplane… And I like to edit them. Even in such a short one hour flight around the island it is always a different story, a new experience, new views… And the Cessna is pretty photogenic :-). What do you think?
